AIR SCOURING

Air Scouring is an extremely cost effective option for cleaning smaller diameter water mains and is particularly applicable to the removal of loose deposits, debris, slimes and silts.

Air scouring involves the controlled injection of filtered compressed air into the main with the objective of forming continuous slugs of discrete air or water flow in the main. This increases the velocity of the water slugs to above the minimum velocity required to suspend and transport particular matter, which provides the cleaning action in the main.

It can be used as a preventative maintenance procedure or as a means of alleviating dirty water complaints from consumers.
